House of Orla

The Divine are real and do as they please. Orla knows this, as all Priestesses of the House do. Their order is the only force keeping the Gods and Goddesses' harmful desires mitigated, a bastion of power rivaling that of the throne. Orla knows something else, too - she’ll do whatever it takes to be the next Matriarch of her House.

She always thought that meant doing as the Matriarchs commanded, but now a new path has emerged. Lord Alaric has killed the king and claimed his throne, and he wants to expand the kingdom into the lands of untamed Divine. He says he’ll take a Priestess with him, to establish a new House.

It’s blasphemous, and everything she’s ever wanted, if she’s willing to take the risk.

On the journey, Orla must balance her loyalty to the House and her alliance with the King - all while tempering the dark wants of the Divine. The House is making moves. King Alaric is, too. Orla is caught between religious obedience and a path to power. It doesn’t take long for truths to begin to unravel; there’s more to this journey than the King let on, an impossible task that changes everything Orla thought she knew about the House. Orla must determine where her values truly lie, and what price she is willing to pay to be a Matriarch
